Welcome
Welcome to Mrs. Cummings' page. I am one of the resource teachers for 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade co-teaching reading, and 4th grade math resource and co-teaching math. This is my 26th year at Ellendale Elementary and my 36th year of teaching. I am thrilled to be part of Bartlett City Schools. I graduated from Bartlett High School. (I won't say what year!) It is especially rewarding to be able to teach in the system where you attended school!
I know that God called me to be a teacher. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to teach and that special education was my calling. I have an undergraduate and a graduate degree in Special Education from the University of Memphis. Go Tigers! I am available to answer any questions you may have about my class or our program for exceptional children. I may not have the answer, but I will certainly try and find someone who does. My email address is [email protected] or you may reach me by calling the school at 373-2636.
My husband Gary and I have been married for 35 years. We have 3 sons. Garrett is 30, Brennan is 27, and Peyton is 26. Our oldest son Garrett is married to Audrey. Audrey is also a teacher. They have our 2 grand-dogs, Clovis and Rowan. Our youngest son Peyton is married to Sabrina. They have our 2 grand-cats Milo and Moe. Our middle son Brennan is engaged to Addy. We live in the Ellendale district and all of our boys attended Ellendale when they were in elementary school. We also have a fur baby at home named Zac, short for Zacchaeus because "he is a wee little man." We adopted Zac from the Memphis Animal Shelter over 6 years ago and he is precious! I highly recommend adopting from MAS. It was a very good experience for our family and we certainly got lucky when we got Zac.
I am involved in the community through a variety of activities including the Ellendale PTO, Alpha Delta Kappa teacher’s organization, Daybreak Neighborhood Assoc., BEA, TEA, and NEA as well as our church Ellendale Baptist. I am a co-sponsor of the Art Club and I work with Kids Beach Club(KBC) on Thursdays after school. (Please see the attached sign-up sheet for KBC if your child is in grades 3-5 and they are interested in being part of KBC.)
In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. Our family enjoys outdoor activities. Our boys love hunting, fishing, boating, and riding ATVs. I like to cook, especially desserts. These just happen to be my weakness as well. I don’t drink coffee, but you will always find me with a Diet Mt. Dew in the mornings.
I look forward to another wonderful year with Bartlett City Schools because there really is "No Place I'd Rather B!"
