Welcome to Mrs. Cummings' page. I am one of the teachers for 4th and 5th grade resource and co-teachering. This is my 21th year at Ellendale Elementary and my 31st year of teaching. I am thrilled to be part of Bartlett City Schools. I graduated from Bartlett High School. (I won't say what year!)
I know that God called me to be a teacher. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to teach and that special education was my calling. I have an undergraduate degree in Special Education from Memphis State University and a graduate degree in Special Education from the University of Memphis. Go Tigers. I am the resource teacher for 4th grade reading and math co-teacher for 4th grade as well as the 5th grade reading and math resource and co-teacher. I love being in the general education classes and getting to work with a variety of students including those with special needs. Current plans have me co-teaching with Mrs. Young in 4th grade and Mrs. Mills and Ms. Bernard in 5th grade. I will also be serving as the Instructional Coach this year at Ellendale in addition to my regular position and look forward to working particularly with our new teachers. I am available to answer any questions you may have about my class or our program for exceptional children. I may not have the answer, but I will certainly try and find someone who does. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org or you may reach me by calling the school at 373-2636.
My husband Gary and I have been married for almost 30 years. We have 3 sons. Garrett is 25, Brennan is 22 and Peyton is 20. We live in the Ellendale district and all of our boys attended Ellendale when they were in elementary school. Garrett is engaged and will be getting married in September. His fiancee is Audrey and I already have a grand-dog Beau who is a German short-haired pointer. I also have a fur baby at home named Zac, short for Zacchaeus because "he is a wee little man." We adopted Zac from the Memphis Animal Shelter over a year ago and he is precious! I highly recommend adopting from MAS. It was a very good experience for our family and we certainly got lucky when we got Zac.
I am involved in the community through a variety of activities including the PTA, Alpha Delta Kappa teacher’s organization, Daybreak Neighborhood Assoc., BEA, TEA, and NEA as well as our church Ellendale Baptist.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family. I help sponsor the Garden Club here at Ellendale and work with Kid's Beach Club too. Our family enjoys outdoor activities. Our boys love to hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles as well as ATVs. I like to cook, especially desserts. These just happen to be my weakness as well. I love sweets. I don’t drink coffee, but you will always find me with a Diet Mt. Dew in the mornings.
I look forward to another wonderful year with Bartlett City Schools because Bartlett City Schools truly is the Greatest Place to Be!
